FRAGSTATS can assist landscape assessments through powerful metrics

Landscapes are often complex, dynamic, and difficult to interpret, especially in relation to influences on local biology. Each landscape is different and represents a unique ecological habitat. FRAGSTATS is an established and robust spatial pattern analysis program that computes a wide variety of metrics to quantify landscape structure (composition and configuration). Composition indices report abundance, diversity, and uniformity within a landscape. Configuration statistics reveal the shape, size, edge, density, connectivity, and interspersion of landscape components.

These metrics can describe local spatial heterogeneity and help understand potential interaction with local populations. Read more about the functionality of FRAGSTATS here: https://lnkd.in/gySGEwf
